Rural projects hold a special place in our hearts: we began our practice with agricultural building conversions and farmstead developments, and we continue to operate our UK office from a converted barn in the middle of a barley field today.

We understand that the rural way of life is part of a delicate ecosystem with deep roots and traditions, which can often be perceived as being resistant to change. Yet these resilient communities have actually become masters of resourceful adaptation in order to sustain their livelihood in the face of a constantly changing environment.

This attitude of respecting the seasonal rhythm of life while incorporating incremental change guides our subtle design approach in rural projects, resulting in a refined beauty that marries utilitarian requirements with the natural splendour of a place.
